Little Gangster

Mine and Regan's guilty pleasure this summer has been watching "So You Think You Can Dance". (Yes, we know we're nerds.) Our favorite dancer is Benji and Regan's favorite dance (mostly because it's the only one she actually watched) was him doing the hip-hop routine. So, in honor of Benji, I dressed her up as a little gansta so she could look like him. I love the look on her face. Eric says it looks like she's saying, "Sup?"

We started putting Regan in her high chair while we eat supper at night so that she can sit up tall like us. She looks so little in it!

The other day, Regan and I went shopping with Kristen. It was about 150 degrees outside, and Regan got really hot in her car seat, so when we got home I took her out of her outfit and put her in her bouncy seat to cool off. Once she was no longer sweating she was a very happy baby. Here she is cooing at Aunt Kristen and Baby Sharp.

Here's our little sumo wrestler!! I love this picture so much... seriously, is there any kid on earth as cute as she is!?!

Big Girl

Here's Regan playing with her baby gym thingy. Usually she just stares at all the toys, but there have been a few times when she's actually hit them with her hands, and when she does, she sure is proud of herself!

Regan is really starting to be more active and is awake a lot more (although she's awake during the night usually!). It's so much fun to play with her and listen to her talk to us.

Here she is standing on Daddy's legs like a big girl. This is the latest thing she likes to do... whenever we stop letting her stand on us she starts fussing until we let her stand up again! Look at how cute her chubby thighs are! I think the Gran-girls will agree that the only time they're cute is when they're on a baby!

And here she is last night getting her bath. Eric decided that since that's the first thing we do to start calming her down at night, we should turn off the kitchen light and just leave the stove light on. Regan did not know what to think of the dark bath-time, but she did great and even went right to sleep when we laid her down. Maybe father does know best!

More pictures from Elkhart

Here are a few more pictures that Mom sent from last week in Elkhart. Regan is always wanting to suck on her hands, and she actually managed to get her thumb in her mouth at one point! She's beginning to take after her cousin Kylie (and her Mommy too!).
We had her 2 month appointment this afternoon. After driving in the 4Runner, which the air conditioner does not work in, she was pretty cranky anyway, but she really let us know she wasn't happy when the Dr. started messing around and checking her hips and all that fun stuff. Then the nurses came in and stuck her, which obviously made her cry. This time I didn't cry, though, so was pretty proud of myself! :) She weighs 12 lbs, 11 oz and is 23 inches long. (she's in the 75% for both height and weight)
I asked the doctor what I should do because she's asleep all day and up all night. His response was, "You don't have a nanny to take care of that!?" I asked him what world he was living in. But he gave me some good ideas, so hopefully we'll get her on the right schedule soon. I'm not sure I can take much more of this!
And since it's nighttime, she's beginning to wake up. I guess Dr. Young's advice doesn't work right away....

Here are a few pictures from this weekend in Elkhart. Regan and I had a great time with my parents while Eric was hosting a drum camp in the big city of Pampa, America. Regan has definitely mixed up her days and nights, so it was nice to have four extra hands willing to hold her while I slept a few more minutes, or even just so I could take a shower!
The top picture is one of my most favorite pictures of Regan ever. She is holding her head up so good now. As you can tell by the second picture, she's finally starting to like her baths a lot more. I think we're up to 4 now that she hasn't screamed through!

She's really starting to smile and coo at us more. Mom took this (third) picture right before we left Elkhart on Saturday. The last picture is of Regan and Papa on his new motorcycle. Mom had a picture of the other girls with Papa and his bike, so we needed one with Regan. She was less than interested, but Papa sure was proud.

This blog is pretty much pointless, I'm just showing my sister how to do it. I don't know why, because she doesn't have the internet at her house, but oh well.

Here is the first picture ever taken of me and Eric.... back when we were skinny. Why does marriage tend to make people fat?

Enough.

Night Owl

Well, as you can probably tell by the time of this posting, Regan and I are wide awake on this lovely Saturday night. She's sitting in her bouncy seat making a game out of kicking the blanket off when I put it on. She gives me this coy look and then goes to town kicking away.

Thing No One Told Me About Being A Mother #347: It is nearly impossible to be frustrated with your child at 12:28 a.m. because that's when they turn on the charm and smile and coo at you.

Anyway, I felt bad for not having pictures of my other nieces on the blog yet (what kind of aunt am I!?). We're going to Mom and Dad's for the 4th, and I'll have more pictures, but until then, here are a few from Christmas.

This is Aubrey Brooke, but I call her Aubers. She is 4 1/2 now and is quite the diva. She's always talking about her "Princess House" which is her imaginary place where she gets everything she wants. Some of their friends found this shirt for her, and it couldn't fit Aubrey any better!

This August, Aubrey is going to be a big sister. They were going to name the baby Kyle, but now apparently they're thinking of naming him Jackson.

Say goodbye, Aubers....

This is Kylie Ann (Punkin). She is 5 1/2 now and is becoming quite the grown up. She is looking forward to starting Kindergarten this fall and I'm pretty sure they're going to skip her straight to 1st grade! She can already write all her letters, she can pick out the nouns and verbs in basic sentences (I don't even know what a verb is!)... I'm telling you, the kid is a genius.

Say goodbye, Kylie....

And speaking of divas... This is my sister-in-law, Karen. Eric and I got her these earring as a gag gift at Christmas. The gag fell through, but she was a good enough sport to model the lovely hoops for us. What a goofball.

I won't tell you her age, but did you know that when Karen graduated from high school, I was in 3rd grade!?

Say goodbye, Karen...

Well, Regan is back to sleep now. I can't decide if I should leave her as she is and just sleep in the chair until she inevitably wakes up next hour, or if I should chance waking her up and move into the bedroom where I'll be more comfortable in my own bed.

Oh, the joys of motherhood. I love every minute of it.
