DIY from the weekend

Last weekend, Richard and Nancy came out.  We loved spending time with them and Richard and Eric even accomplished quite a few projects Eric's been needing help with.  They installed some lights that shine on the trees and the flag, but I haven't gotten a picture of those at nighttime yet, so I'll show those later.  They also replaced something in the light fixture in the office, but it wasn't all that exciting.

For me, the most exciting thing was Richard replacing the light fixtures in the entryway and hallway!! We've had the new fixtures for over 2 years.  I know.  Seriously.  2 years.  I happened to mention that to Richard, and that afternoon he got busy replacing them for us.

The old fixture in the entryway.  The hall one was the exact same.
The newer, updated fixtures!

Thank you so much for all your help, Richard!!

Roller girl

The first weekend in June, Regan is going to be a flower girl in one of my friends' wedding.  I've been trying to figure out how to fix her hair for the event, and I've had these sponge curlers in the closet for awhile.  So, this past Saturday night after bath time, I thought it would be fun to roll Regan's hair for Sunday, mostly so I could try it out for the wedding.  Mom used to roll our hair a lot when we were little, and even up into high school, I remember her rolling it for big events (homecoming...a cute boy in church...).  Let me just say, I have so much more appreciation for Mom after rolling just one little girl's hair.  I can't imagine doing it for three squirmy girls!

Regan was so excited and cute about it all.  I warned her very sternly to not take the curlers out, and she didn't.  I was really shocked because she always plays with her hair when she's falling asleep, but she didn't seem to have any problems with it.
This is right after I took the curlers out.  She had on the cutest Navy dress that she got for her birthday from Nana and Papa.  She looked like a blonde headed Shirley Temple!

After I brushed all the curls out.  This would be the point that Eric walked in from church rehearsal and this is what he saw.  The look on his face was priceless.  Of course, I may have played it up and gone on and on about how cute I thought it was, and it turned out exactly how I wanted it, blah blah blah.  It was pretty funny.  I think the look on Regan's face is hilarious!
And here it is after a few squirts of detangler to loosen it up.
Our curly-q...
I think it turned out pretty well, but I'm also going to experiment rolling it a few different ways before I decide on a particular look for the wedding.

So You Think Grant Can Dance?

Eric has been busy writing marching shows for next year -- he's writing 3 shows from start to finish and then the drum book on 2 others.  Grant is really digging the opener he wrote for Randall.

Happy Birthday Regan!!!

It's hard to believe Regan turned 3 last Wednesday.  I get all sappy every time I think about my little girl growing up.  I just can't believe that she's already three years old.  Wasn't it just last summer when she would sleep all day and stay awake at night watching the Game Show Network with us?   And didn't she just start talking a few months ago?  Seriously.  Sappy, people.

We were going to have an all-out bash, Dora the Explorer style, but for several reasons, opted out of that and chose instead to take Regan and her friend, Emma, to Jump n Jive.  It's an old department store that is full of those huge blow up bounce houses.  Nana even got to come into town the night before Regan's birthday, and she and GiGi came along with us.  It was so much fun and the girls had a blast.  So did a certain Daddy, who played just as hard, if not more so, than the girls!  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but here are a few pictures of the little shindig afterwards.  We ate pizza and cake and opened presents.

Regan with all of her loot.
Opening her Disney princess sand shovel from Great-Aunt Janie, who was in town visiting.  She and Grandad got to come over and eat some pizza with us, and we sure enjoyed visiting with them.  Regan and Grant (who got a Cars sand shovel too) LOVE their buckets and have played outside with them every day since they got them.  Thanks, Aunt Janie and Uncle Robert Lee!
Emma gave Regan a fairy dress up kit.  It was a major hit for both girls. :)
Happy Birthday, Regan Renee'!!  We love you so much!

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm so grateful that God chose these two precious babies to be MY children.  I'm blessed to hear them call me Momma and am thankful for the wonderful and amazing woman that I call Mom.  I'm also so thankful that God gave me the absolute BEST mother-in-law in the world!!  Happy Mother's Day to all of the mother's in my life!!

Here are a few pictures of the kiddos... (because, you know without them, I wouldn't be a momma!)

Grant has definitely taken after his daddy.  He loves to sit at the piano and play while Eric writes music.  He will do this for the longest time... I really think we might have another composer on our hands!

We have had beautiful weather the last several weeks so the kids and I have been playing outside a lot.  I think this is the sweetest picture!
Could they be any cuter!?
Both of the kids like to brush their teeth (when I remember to have them do it!).  Grant just chews on his toothbrush while I dress him, but Regan is becoming quite the big girl, and she insists on brushing her teeth "all by herself".  She does a pretty good job, too!

I still am having trouble getting the Pokey Pokey video to download, but I'll keep trying.  And maybe next time I post, I'll have pictures of our new nephew!!!!  Karen is scheduled for a c-section on Thursday morning, the day after Regan's 3rd birthday.  I'm SO excited -- we can't wait to see the little guy!

Grant's funny face

A couple of nights ago, Grant kept making this funny face at supper.  Sorry about the shaking, I kept laughing and couldn't keep the camera straight! :)

I have another video of Regan doing the Pokey Pokey, but blogger is taking forever to do videos, so I'll try to post it later on.
